This month's blog will cover a variety of things and some unusual photos.
Working backwards, yesterday we took a helicopter flight over the Keys and the harbor. It was AWESOME!! When we took off Linda said, "This is cool!!" When we landed she said, "Let's go again!!!" Big grins still on our faces as I write this.
We took some great photos, some of which I am posting here.
Here is an aerial photo of Enchantress on her mooring:
A photo of the Seven Mile Bridge:
One of Pigeon Key which was the island camp where the workers who built the railway from Miami to Key West in the early 20th century lived and it is now a museum:
An overall aerial view of Boot Key Harbor with all the boats on the moorings and at anchor:
A closer view of our part of the harbor with Enchantress in the photo (Enchantress is in the center row, second boat up from the bottom of the photo):
Sister Creek leading out from the harbor to the Atlantic Ocean with Boot Key on the right:
We had dinner at the Sunset Grille one night recently with some new friends. Here are photos of the fire dancers who are a young couple on a crusing sailboat in the harbor and one of the sunset:
Linda and I held the Second Annual Captain Morgan's Treasure Hunt last weekend. Despite a cool, cloudy day (the only one for a month!) we had a good turnout and everyone had fun looking for the treasure chest. Here are photos of Linda and I in our pirate costumes and of the treasure chest:
A photo of a very unusual occurence in the Keys. FOG!!! Looks like New England! That is the sun, not the moon:
In the past month we have been to Key West, had lunch out with several friends, went on an overnight sailing trip and anchored out off the island, Linda has worked on many craft and sewing projects, etc. Now we need to start getting the boat ready to leave for our summer of cruising. We will be leaving here in about a month or so and heading north up the west coast of Florida for the summer. We need to get the motor serviced, some re-stitching done on the foresail, and general maintenance and provisioning to get ready to leave. We are getting itchy to be underway again!!
