On October 5th we flew up to Connecticut for a vacation. We were there for Amy's birthday. We took care of the girls one evening so that she and Mark could go out to dinner. We all went out on her actual birthday for a lunch and then on to the Children's Museum.
Here is a photo of the girls with a model of a whale in the background outside the museum:
And one of Linda doing her best ballet pose with a "ballet cow"!:
The next day we went up to Massachusetts hoping to see some fall foliage as it was not very good in Connecticut, being several weeks behind in changing colors. It was marginally better up in the hills but still not the spectacular colors we had hoped to show Linda. But we spent the day up there at Old Sturbridge Village, which is a recreation of an 1830s early America town with people in period costumes. We rode in a horse-drawn wagon, watched the old water-powered sawmill in action, toured the houses and other buildings in the town, etc. It was a beautiful fall day (not TOO cold!) and we all learned a lot and had a great time.
Here are some photos:
We had a great vacation and visit. We will be seeing Amy, Mark, Olivia and Laura again in a couple of months when we all go on the Disney Cruise to the Bahamas in December!! We will all be spending Christmas in Orlando after the cruise, visiting with Amy's grandmother (the girls great-grandmother), since she and John spend the winters in Kissimmee near Orlando. In the meantime, we will be hanging out here in the Keys enjoying paradise! :-)
